headspace is Australia’s National Youth Mental Health Foundation.  headspace Penrith which is run by Parramatta Mission, aims to deliver improvements in the mental health, social well-being and economic participation of young Australian aged 12-25 years.  To this end, headspace aims to be the focal point for youth mental health issues across the country.

Job Description

The Psychologist will provide Medicare funded headspace clinical services, ensuring that the clinical activities delivered are within the relevant professional and individual scope of practice as a Psychologist; are evidenced based; are of high quality; and demonstrate a holistic approach to client management.

 

We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced Psychologist to provide youth friendly, psychological strategies under the Medicare Better Access Initiative.  This will include both individual and group intervention.

 

Essential Criteria

  • Fully registered Psychologist with AHPRA.
  • Be eligible to provide services under Medicare.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing services to young people aged 12-25 years of age.
  • Highly developed level of oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with young people and their families, GP’s and other health professionals.
  • Be willing to undertake a Working with Children Check and a separate Criminal History check.

 

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in working in a similar position
  • Experienced with the use of electronic medical records software
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
