headspace Bundaberg is a free and confidential service where young people aged 12 to 25 years old can access a range of supports.
Our team are dedicated to supporting young people to seek help when times are tough, and educating the community in how they can help a friend or loved one.

headspace Bundaberg is operated by Youturn Youth Support. All headspace services are funded by the Australian Government Department of Health. Administration of funding is carried out by the headspace centre’s local Primary Health Network, in this case, Central Queensland, Wide Bay, Sunshine Coast PHN.
Mental health workers – which may include psychologists, psychiatrists, counsellors and other workers – that can help if you're just not feeling yourself.
A group of young people who help with events and some decision making at a centre. Ask your centre about getting involved.
Workers either on site or linked to the centre who can assist you with any alcohol or other drug concern.
Centres have a range of programs and activities for young people. Just ask your centre what they have on.
We understand that asking for help when you're not feeling yourself can sometimes be difficult or uncomfortable. Because of this, we have tried to make our referral process as accessible as possible.
There are several ways you can access our service: you can make yourself appointment via phone, email or coming into the centre, a friend or family member can contact us on your behalf, or your GP can refer you to us. You do not need a formal referral to come and see us.
If you are a service provider, GP, or Government Department, please complete the referral form and return to headspace Bundaberg by email email@example.com, fax 4152 6602, or mail to 66 Woongarra Street, Bundaberg 4670.
Please note we are an early intervention service; our team will assess all incoming referrals and we will contact you shortly after to let you know whether the young person has been accepted into service.

Finding Our Centre
We are located at 66 Woongarra Street, just down the street from City McDonalds, heading towards the library.
There are two bus stops right near our centre on Woongarra Street. The bus schedule and route information can be found here
Privacy and Confidentiality
At headspace Bundaberg we take your privacy very seriously and anything shared with us is confidential. We keep all your information on a secure database which is only available to headspace Bundaberg staff. The law stops us from sharing your information outside these people unless we have your permission. Sometimes you do not want us to share your information and we respect that, however there may be times when we need to talk to someone without your permission, such as; if you or someone else is at significant risk of harm or if the law requires us to do so.
For most services at headspace Bundaberg, you do not need a Medicare card.
If you need to see our GP, you will need to have access to Medicare.
Please note: if you don't have access to a Medicare card, please contact us on 4152 3931 and we will assist where possible.
For young people aged 15 and above, you can apply for your own Medicare card if you want to.
Fill out the Medicare application form and return this form with ID (such as your birth certificate or student ID) to the Medicare service centre. Our closest Medicare office is located inside Centrelink on the corner of Woongarra and Tantitha streets
You can get initial support from a headspace at no cost. We want to make getting the support you need easy.
If you go on to work with one of our headspace mental health practitioners (e.g. Psychologists or Mental Health Social Workers), it is recommended you get a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP. This will allow us to bulk bill (at no cost to yourself) up to 10 sessions for you in the calendar year. We can step through how this works when the time comes, if it is needed.
In Bundaberg, we have a bulk-billing GP, Dr Khan, available Tuesdays and Fridays.
We operate from a principle of "no wrong door", this means that if headspace is not the most appropriate serve for the young person, they will still receive guidance until they find the right one.

Family & Friends Committee
Are you passionate about supporting young people? Advocating for and breaking stigma around mental health? Are you interested in supporting us to be the best we can be for our local community?
Our Family and Friends Committee has five key areas to work towards, these include:
- Help amplify the early intervention message
- Support headspace Bundaberg activities and events
- Support, develop and deliver fundraising endeavours
- Support community to understand the diversity that young people experience
- Encourage the voice of young people to be heard and acted upon.

Our Youth Engagement Committee (YEC) are an energetic and fun team who help support headspace.
We host and attend community events, visit schools and services, and work closely with other young people for connection and social activities. If you see us out and about, come and say hi.

For the most part we meet monthly to run through events, ideas and activities. The YEC help facilitate our social groups, which include BRITE, game space and baby space, and we work on projects that help headspace be the best it can for our local community.
You will gain loads of experience, participate in training, meet great people, and we can support you with job references if needed.

In Bundaberg we work closely with our Consortia to ensure young people have access to other relevant services in the local area. This helps young people to participate in further learning and education, work towards better employment prospects, gain housing opportunities, and to connect with community on a broader level.
The Consortia meet bi-monthly to discuss and influence the support that headspace Bundaberg offers so that all young people are offered an improved life opportunity.
