headspace Cannington is located in the heart of Cannington's business and shopping district on the Albany Highway - located near the Cannington showgrounds, shopping centre and public transport.

Beckenham train station is a 15 minute walk to the site. Bus timetables can be found for routes 206, 220,507,930. We have a number of customer parking bays in front of the centre.

headspace Cannington is operated by Arche Health. All headspace services are funded by the Australian Government Department of Health. Administration of funding is carried out by the headspace centre’s local Primary Health Network, in this case, WA Primary Health Alliance (WAPHA).

Services

Mental health workers – which may include psychologists, psychiatrists, counsellors and other workers – that can help if you're just not feeling yourself.

  • Relevant Tertiary qualifications and registration with APHRA or AASW
  • Must have a provider number for bulk-billing Medicare
  • Indemnity Insurance to the value $10 million
  • Covid Vaccination, WWC and police check
  • Current working rights visa

Young People

If you are a young person and wish to see someone at headspace Cannington, you are welcome to email, call or visit during our business hours to discuss your options.

 

Parents, Family, Carers and Friends

If you are the family member, carer or friend of a young person and wish to refer them to headspace Cannington, you are welcome to call us during our business hours to discuss options. Please ensure that the young person who you are referring is willing to engage with headspace and can attend appointments.

 

Service Providers

If you are a service provider, health professional, or from a school and wish to refer a young person to headspace Cannington, please complete our Service Provider Referral Form. Prior to completing the form, please ensure that you have obtained the young person's consent and provide as much information as possible so that headspace Cannington’s Triage Officer can determine the suitability and the most appropriate treatment options for the young person. headspace Cannington will contact the young person and inform you thereafter of the outcome of your referral with us.

Our Youth Reference Group (YRG) is made up of a diverse group of young volunteers aged 16- 25 years, who help support and guide the centre on key components of youth mental heath service delivery and community awareness initiatives both within the centre and the broader community.

The role of the YRG is varied and members are offered a range of opportunities to contribute to our centre and their community including; reviewing decisions regarding the day to day running of the centre, helping to plan youth events and representing headspace Cannington t at events or in the media.

What is headspace Cannington offering the community in 2022?
headspace Cannington provides FREE and confidential mental health, alcohol and drug, physical health (including sexual health) and work and study support for young people 12 – 25. In addition to in-house services, our Community Engagement team provide a range of outreach services and programs.

·         Workshops for young people aged 12 - 25 at schools, TAFE’s, universities and other organisations

·         Workshops for parents and cares of young people and teachers

·         Providing spaces and venues for events, programs and meetings

·         Access to volunteers

·         Cross promotion via social media platforms

·         Setting up Information Booths at events

·         Other supports for event and project planning

 

Workshops


headspace Cannington offers FREE workshops and presentations that include a range of practical evidence-based content, interactive activities and videos. Workshops generally go for 45 minutes. 

Our presenters use safe and inclusive language and are happy to discuss any specific concerns or requests you may have when booking a presentation.

headspace Cannington’s workshops work best with groups of 10 - 30 so those participating can ask questions and engage fully in activities. We are happy to consider bigger groups on a case-by-case basis.

Palmerston Association: support individual, families and communities  affected by alcohol and other drug issues with a range of services including counselling, group support and residential rehabilitation. Palmerston is  located in Perth metropolitan, Peel, the South West and Great Southern regions of Western Australia. Palmerston  offers face to face counselling at headspace Cannington.

Centrecare: is a well-respected Catholic not-for-profit organisation providing a variety of counselling and professional social services inspired by compassion and respect for human dignity. Centrecare offers face to face counselling at headspace Cannington.

Communicare: aim to create community inclusion and community safety by working collaboratively with individuals, families and communities to facilitate social and economic inclusion for all and establish and sustain safe and healthy communities. Communicare will run workshops from headspace Cannington.

YouthReach South: a specialist mental health service providing counselling, therapy and case management to young people aged 13-24 years in the South Metropolitan area with serious mental health problems and barriers to accessing mainstream services.

WA Child Safety Services: WA Child Safety Services is Western Australia’s only not-for-profit provider of Protective Behaviours, Cyber Safety, Child Protection and Teen Talk programs and resources. We work alongside families, schools, and organisations to help prevent child abuse.

City of Canning: The City’s Youth Development team provides a range of support programs, activities, events and opportunities for young people to connect, create, chill and upskill.

MercyCare: provide young Western Australians and their families with safe and supportive access to wellbeing and mental health services and accommodation options. Available for counselling at headspace Cannington

SHQ: Educating, informing and empowering people to enjoy sexual health and relationship wellbeing.

Richmond Wellbeing:  provides inclusive, community-based mental health and wellbeing support services across Western Australia

APM: services focus on enhancing an individual’s employability, health and wellbeing, and social and economic participation in their community.
