This step has been taken to ensure the safety of young people, family & friends, and staff working in the centre. headspace Griffith is operated by Centacare South West . All headspace services are funded by the Australian Government Department of Health. Administration of funding is carried out by the headspace centre’s local Primary Health Network, in this case, Murrumbidgee (First Health Ltd).

Referrals to headspace Griffith
For your first visit to headspace Griffith, you don’t need a referral. However should you like to come and see us, or know someone who would like to, there are a few ways you can do this.
Self or family referral: If you are between the ages of 12-25 or a family member of a young person and wish to speak to someone, please call (02) 6962 3277 during office hours. You can also email email@example.com . Please note this is not an email response service – please see eheadspace information below. You can also come in to see us. You'll find us at 1/26 Ulong Street Griffith.
eheadspace: If you'd prefer to make contact online or by phone then eheadspace might be for you. eheadspace is a confidential, free and secure space where young people 12 - 25 or their family can chat, email or speak on the phone with a qualified youth mental health professional. You can find out all about it here.
Professional referral: If you would like to refer a young person to our service, please print and complete the referral form below. You can then either fax it to us on (02) 6962 6925, scan and email it to firstname.lastname@example.org or post to our PO Box (details on the referral form).

What kind of things can you help me with?
headspace Griffith can help with concerns or questions related to general health, mental health and wellbeing, stuff going on with your family, friends or studies, employment, and alcohol and other drug concerns. If there is something else you have questions about, just give us a call or send us an email and ask.
How old do I have to be?
headspace provides services to young people between the ages of 12 and 25.
Do my parents need to come with me?
Although we feel it's great if parents can come and support you, we also understand this may be difficult sometimes for many reasons. Therefore your parents don't have to attend headspace with you. You may want to bring someone else that you feel comfortable with, or you can also attend by yourself if you choose to. If you’re 14 or under we need consent from a family member or legal guardian.
How much does it cost?
headspace services are all free of charge.
Do I need a referral to come?
No you don't need a referral. You can call or come and see us yourself. Or you can ask a friend, teacher, parent, other family member, health worker or community agency to contact headspace on your behalf; however we will need to speak with you before your first appointment to get your consent.
Do you tell people what I say?
At headspace we take your privacy very seriously and anything you say to us is confidential. There may be times other people may need to be involved in your care and if this is the case, we will talk to you about it first. The only time we would talk to someone else without your permission is if we are concerned about your safety, or are required to by law.
How do I make an appointment?
First step is to either give us a call on (02) 6962 3277 and talk to one of the team who will explain a bit more about headspace services and ask you some questions about what you may be wanting help with. What if I'm not ready to speak to someone face-to-face?
It's not unusual to feel nervous about getting help. We understand this might be the first time you’ve spoken to anyone about your worries/concerns. If you're going through a tough time and you don’t think you’re ready to chat to someone face-to-face, eheadspace provides confidential online web-chat and telephone mental health support 7 days a week. headspace Griffith wants to let young people and their families know when, how and where in the community they can start to seek help for mental health issues. To do this headspace Griffith often attends community events, schools and service agencies to provide information to help increase the knowledge for young people, their friends, families and the broader community.
We do this through a presentation, information stalls or leaving resources such as posters or brochures. Our presentations cover what headspace is and general information about mental health and awareness. Our information stalls are interactive and offer a range of merchandise to be handed out.
If you would like headspace Griffith to give a presentation at your school or agency, or have an information stall at your next open day or community event please complete the headspace Griffith Event/Info Session Booking Request which can be found here. Once completed hit 'Submit' and we will contact you.
We ask that all booking requests be submitted a minimum of three weeks before the date of your event/presentation to ensure adequate resources are available.

Join our Youth Reference Group!
The headspace Griffith Youth Reference Group, H.Y.P.E. (Helping Young People Evolve) is a group of young people aged 16-25 years who have an interest in youth wellbeing and mental health. The group meets monthly to gives us advice about how the centre can make a difference for young people.
Youth involvement is the key to making sure we have the best services for young people. Young people involved with the headspace Griffith YRG will have the opportunity to contribute in a number of ways, including (but not limited to):
- Speaking out about youth mental health in your community
- Receiving support to lead projects locally which can provide young people a voice for youth mental health policy development
- Working with other young people to help improve access to mental health services
- Have the opportunity to attend conferences and training to support your role as a Youth Reference Group member
- Attend local events to promote headspace Griffith services
- Provide input into the development of resources for young people, including factsheets, brochures and other promotional materials

When you turn 15 years of age, you can apply for your own Medicare card. To do this you have to do some paper work and have some identification. (You need to complete a "Medicare copy or transfer"application form and submit it at your local Medicare service centre.) You'll need to provide identification, such as a student card or birth certificate, as well as details about the card you are transferring from. If you have difficulty obtaining or qualifying for a Medicare card please let us know as we may be able to assist you or help you find alternative services to support you.
