Best Selling Author and Clinical Psychologist Held Workshop to Help Raise Resilient Children

At 7pm on Tuesday October 27th in the St George Bank Auditorium, Kogarah, Clinical Psychologist and bestselling author Andrew Fuller hosted a 2-hour workshop on Building Resilience in Children and Teens. Andrew described resilience as “the happy knack of being able to bungy jump through the pitfalls of life – to rise above adversity and obstacles.”

This free workshop gave the community an opportunity to learn practical skills in building self-esteem and dealing with setbacks. Additionally, helping them learn the active ingredients of resilience and how parents can develop these in their children.

Andrew Fuller has recently been described as an interesting mixture of Billy Connolly, Tim Winton and Frasier Crane and as someone who puts the heart back into psychology. Fuller has written many bestselling books including Life: A Guide, Tricky Kids, Help your Child to Succeed at School, From Surviving to Thriving and Beating Bullies. He has co-authored a series of programs for the promotion of resilience and emotional intelligence used in over 3,500 schools in Britain and Australia called The Heart Masters.

The event was collaborative initiative between Kogarah, Hurstville and Rockdale City Councils, Kogarah Community Services, headspace Hurstville and South East Sydney and Illawarra Area Health (NSW Health).
