headspace Kalgoorlie attends Boulder Primary NAIDOC Celebration

On Friday 26th June headspace attended the Boulder Primary School NAIDOC Celebration. It was an incredibly well put together event with close to fifty stalls and activities. Many community services were  represented at the event - including: Hope Community Services, headspace, Centrecare, Red Cross, CAMHS (Child and Adolscent Mental Health Service), GMML (Goldfields Midwest Medicare Local), Bega Garnbirringu, just to name a few.

The emergency services were also well represented with local Fire Fighters, Policemen and the State Emergency Services all providing the Boulder Primary students with an opportunity to play with the sirens, sit in the drivers seat and get to know a little bit more about what each profession offers.

There were many activities available including face painting, bracelet making, Drumbeat lessons, lolly kebab creation, a second hand book stall, a bouncy castle, a chocolate wheel, the Goldfields Football Academy  Kick Competition, bubble blowing, and Lizzie the Lizard.

The kids each had to visit multiple stalls and get their checklist stamped by the stall holder - a great way to ensure they all got to know a little more about the services available in Kalgoorlie!

The Boulder Primary NAIDOC Event was a wonderful celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. The Boulder Primary School students were polite, respectful and a great example of tomorrow's leaders - what a wonderful event for headspace to be involved in!
