In 2016 headspace Hobart was one of 14 headspace Centres invited by the Australian Government to take part in a three-year national trial of the Individual Placement & Support (IPS) model of vocational assistance for young people with mental health issues.
The trial proved so successful that it was extended and gradually rolled out to 50 headspace Centres across Australia.
On 1 July 2021, the ‘trial’ officially graduated to a ‘program’ and to celebrate headspace Hobart’s IPS have re-named their program headStart.
Today our staff joined with representatives from Youth ARC, the Department of Social Services, Centrelink, TasTAFE, MEGT, to celebrate. Since the program commenced in Hobart, we have supported over 120 young people to commence work or study.
