do you have a centre I can visit to get support?

headspace Pilbara is the very first centre, without a centre...we are a headspace 'without walls' which means we can provide support in really different ways. You can find our Youth Wellbeing Workers in Newman, Hedland and Karratha at High Schools, Youth Centres, Aboriginal Medical Services, Community Hubs or you can give us a call on 1800 290 626 to find out what activities you can find the Youth Wellbeing Workers at, they change often because they are doing awesomely fun things with local organisations! You will find the standard weekly locations on the 'where can I find a headspace Pilbara worker' tab.

what if I don't live in Newman, Hedland or Karratha and I still want help?

Our headspace workers know quite a few other people working in different services that we can bring into your journey if you want. We also recommend eheadspace.org.au which is online and telephone counselling support and it's FREE and confidential. (call charges may apply) Whilst we don't have Youth Wellbeing Workers in every Pilbara town, we will always try to connect you with someone who can assist.

can I bring my friend or family member to the sessions I have with my headspace worker?

Whatever makes you most comfortable works for us. If you feel more comfortable with your friends, Parents or Carers or trusted person being in the session with you, that's ok too. It's totally up to you!

how much does it cost to see a headspace worker?

Nothing. Nada. Nought. It's all FREE! Any service that headspace Pilbara offers will always be free. There may be a cost for other places we need to help you on your journey, but we always talk to you about that beforehand.

I want to make an appointment with a headspace worker..how do I do that?

Give us a call, send an email or ask a friend/family members/teacher to contact us on your behalf. We want to have a yarn with you or your trusted person prior to setting an appointment so we can understand your struggle a little better.

I see the headspace worker at my school talking to other students, I want to talk with them but don't know where to start.

You can go right up to the headspace worker and ask if you can talk with them; you can also ask your teacher or student support adult if they can make a referral for you. We work closely with the teachers and wellbeing teams at the High Schools, they are there to support you as well.

I see the headspace worker at my school talking to other students, I want to talk with them but not at school. Is that ok?

Absolutely. If you prefer to meet up with the headspace worker in the community, let us know!

do my parents/carers need to know I am seeing a headspace worker?

Having family members aware of your support from headspace is a good thing because they can support you at home as well. Let us know if you want this to happen and we can yarn with them on your behalf, or we can support you to yarn with them.

headspace Pilbara loves getting out and about in the community, delivering education and attending events. Workshops and presentations usually run for approximately 40-50 minutes and include a range of practical evidence based content, interactive activities and videos. Presentations work best with groups of 5-50 participants, but we are happy to consider bigger groups on a case by case basis. We deliver to young people aged 12-25, as well as presentations that can be tailored for school staff, parents, service providers, sport coaches, bus drivers...anyone who is part of a Young Person's journey!
